MuleSoft.U is the line of self-study, public, FREE training and certification offerings provided by MuleSoft. At a significant cost per seat for a public class, instructor-led training is unattainable for many independent developers. The multi-week schedule of the courses is also sometimes preferred by partners and customers over the full day instructor-led training classes.
See the complete list of free training offers here.
Self-study content is provided via prerecorded videos that become available every Wednesday (at 9 am US Pacific time) for the duration of the course. The videos can be viewed 24 x 7.
The courses have been designed in a walkthrough format where students follow along with the videos. After completing the videos each week, students submit homework. In return, students receive the solution files and a reference guide for that week.
Why: We find that it’s easier for students to keep on track when they are responsible for submitting homework. In return for submitting it, students receive the solution files for that week as well as a useful reference guide for that week’s lessons.
When: Before the next week’s videos are posted.
How: Students need to follow the instructions in the videos to upload their walkthrough files at the end of each week. After submitting the file, students will receive an automated email response with links to the solution files and reference guide for that week.
Homework may be submitted at any time and there is no penalty for falling behind on the schedule. Students who do not submit their homework, though, will not receive the solution files and student manual for that week.
For courses that have an associated certificaiton exam, students need the self-discipline to generally remain on track to ensure completing the course and passing the associated exam.
Our free MuleSoft.U courses are only available in a multi-week schedule. For those who need training in a shorter time frame, we offer our paid instructor-led options.
You can watch the course videos for up to 3 months after the end of class. After 3 months, your access will be removed. To watch the videos after that time, you need to register for another class.
MuleSoft.U classes can run into the thousands. Students are encouraged to interact with fellow students via the community forum; peer support is an important element of the learning experience.
Instructor-led training (either live online or in a classroom) is generally more impactful learning than self-study for multiple days of content, but the reality depends on schedules and budgets. If you have a project starting in a couple weeks and you need to get up to speed quickly, then instructor-led-training is for you. If you need after-hours training or are budget constrained, then consider a MuleSoft.U class.
MuleSoft.U training is designed to be highly automated to make MuleSoft training accessible to tens of thousands of people per year at zero cost to the students and low cost to MuleSoft. Instructor-led training involves interaction with an instructor, additional support from the Training department, and an accelerated learning schedule. All of these have appreciable costs, necessitating charging a fee for any instructor-led training. As with many businesses, the free option is great if it works for your scenario and the paid option is available for those with additional needs.

Help and support
Not directly. One of the ways we are able to offer this training for free is by leveraging peer support. Check the forums to see if your question has already been answered or to post a new question. The Training department DOES actively monitor and participate in the forums to ensure questions are being answered promptly and appropriately.
MuleSoft.U classes do not include direct access to instructors. Those who need interaction with an instructor should purchase instructor-led training such as Anypoint Platform Development: Fundamentals. If you have questions during a MuleSoft.U class, check the forums to see if your question has already been answered or to post a new question. The MuleSoft Community forums are extremely active and well monitored and provide the crowdsourcing scale to help thousands of students.
We know you’ll have questions, but with thousands of people in a course, answering questions via email isn’t feasible. One of the ways we are able to offer this training for free is by leveraging peer support. The MuleSoft Community forum is extremely active and well monitored and provide the crowdsourcing scale to help thousands of students.
MuleSoft.U Development Fundamentals
See a side-by-side comparison here. The learning objectives, technical content, and accompanying certification are exactly the same. The differences are in logistical details such as schedule, format, medium, etc. Generally speaking, those who prefer direct interaction with an instructor, training in an accelerated time frame, or the ability to address customer-specific use cases should consider purchasing Anypoint Platform Development: Fundamentals. Those who are okay to do self-study in a longer schedule with only forum-based support may benefit from MuleSoft.U Development Fundamentals.
